National standing

Recognized as Vietnam’s premier law university, Hanoi Law University has been at the forefront of legal education for over four decades. The University has made significant contributions to the training of high-quality legal professionals and the development of the nation’s legal framework.

HLU’s distinguished reputation is reflected in a series of prestigious national honors, including the Independence Orders and Labor Orders awarded by the State, along with numerous commendations from the Prime Minister and central authorities. These achievements affirm the University’s enduring excellence and national standing.

Moreover, through the University's high-quality academic training and mentorship, HLU students have distinguished themselves in numerous prestigious national and international competitions. Their achievements include winning the National VMOOT Championship 2025, receiving the First Prize at the Euréka Student Research Award 2025, and becoming Champions of FDI Moot Vietnam, subsequently representing Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Round. These accomplishments reflect the University's commitment to academic excellence, practical legal training, and the development of globally competent legal professionals.

International Standing

Hanoi Law University has established a strong international presence through an extensive network of global partnerships and academic cooperation. The University currently maintains collaborative relationships with 45 international partners, including leading law schools and research institutions across Asia, Europe, and North America. Through these partnerships, HLU regularly conducts faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, international conferences, and academic cooperation programs.

The University has made significant progress in internationalizing its academic activities and curriculum. Several courses are delivered in English, semester-long exchange programs provide students with valuable international learning opportunities. HLU students also actively participate in prestigious international moot court competitions and have achieved notable accomplishments on the global stage.

HLU's growing international reputation is further reflected in its research achievements. Over the past decade, the University has organized or co-organized 59 international conferences and produced a substantial volume of internationally recognized scholarship, including 171 ISI/Scopus-indexed publications, 36 peer-reviewed international journal articles, 12 international book chapters, and 2 scholarly monographs published overseas. These achievements demonstrate HLU’s commitment to academic excellence and its emergence as an increasingly influential institution in legal education and research within Southeast Asia and beyond. Moreover, HLU students have earned remarkable recognition in prestigious international academic competitions, including the Fali Nariman Honourable Mention for Best Written Memorandum for Respondent at the 23rd Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Third Place Overall at The ASEAN Moot 2023,...
