Hanoi Law University (HLU) successfully held the Closing Ceremony of the HLU International Summer Course 2026 on the afternoon of 14 August 2026 at Room A402, marking the conclusion of a two-week journey of academic learning, cultural discovery, professional engagement, and international exchange.

After two weeks of studying and experiencing life in Vietnam, 22 international students from different countries successfully completed the programme and gathered together for a warm and memorable closing ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Vice Rector of Hanoi Law University; Prof. Patrick H. Gaughan; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tu, Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation; Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang, Head of the Department of Quality Assurance and Examination; and Ms. Nguyen Hai Yen, Lecturer at the Faculty of Banking and Financial Law. Representatives from various HLU units, members of the Organizing Committee, student volunteers, and all participating international students were also present at the ceremony.

Two Weeks of Learning, Discovery, and Experience

The HLU International Summer Course 2026 officially began on 2 August 2026, bringing together international students for two weeks of academic sessions, professional visits, cultural activities, and excursions designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Vietnam.

Under the theme of “Law, Governance, Markets and Society in Vietnam,” students explored important aspects of the Vietnamese legal system through lectures and discussions delivered by HLU lecturers and legal practitioners.

The academic programme was complemented by a wide range of experiential activities, allowing students to connect what they learned in the classroom with real institutions, professional environments, Vietnamese history, culture, and society.

During the two-week programme, students had the opportunity to visit a number of important institutions and cultural destinations, including the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), VILAF – one of Vietnam’s leading law firms, the Bắc Ninh Campus of Hanoi Law University, and Đô Temple.

At VILAF, students had the opportunity to attend an engaging academic and professional session with Lawyer Vu Ha Anh, gaining practical insights into the Vietnamese legal profession and the work of lawyers in a professional environment.

The students also visited the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, where they explored the rich cultural diversity of Vietnam and learned about the traditions and ways of life of different ethnic communities.

One of the most memorable experiences of the programme was the excursion to Ninh Binh, where students visited Hoa Lu Ancient Capital and explored the spectacular Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. The trip offered an opportunity to discover Vietnam’s history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty while strengthening friendships among participants.

Together, these activities provided students with a learning experience that extended far beyond the classroom, allowing them to discover Vietnam through multiple perspectives.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Vice Rector of Hanoi Law University, congratulated all 22 international students on successfully completing the programme.

In his remarks, the Vice Rector emphasized that the success of the Summer Course was not measured solely by the legal knowledge exchanged during the programme. More importantly, the course created opportunities for cultural understanding, friendship, and international exchange.

He expressed his appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm, active participation, and openness throughout their time at HLU and in Vietnam. He also affirmed that Hanoi Law University would continue to serve as a bridge connecting Vietnam with the international academic community and would always warmly welcome international students and scholars to study and conduct research at HLU.

For the students, the message represented not simply the conclusion of a two-week programme, but an invitation to maintain their connection with HLU and Vietnam beyond the Summer Course.

Looking Back on an Unforgettable Journey

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tu, Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation, delivered a closing address reflecting on the highlights of the programme.

She recalled the many memorable moments shared by the students throughout the two weeks, from their first days discovering HLU and Hanoi to academic discussions, professional visits, cultural excursions, and the final days of the programme.

She also highly appreciated the students’ active participation, enthusiasm for learning, openness to new experiences, and remarkable adaptability during their stay in Vietnam.

The Summer Course was made possible through the close cooperation of HLU lecturers, staff members, professional institutions, cultural sites, student volunteers, and the international students themselves.

Their collective efforts helped create an inclusive and dynamic environment in which students could learn, explore, communicate, and build lasting international connections.

Celebrating the Completion of the Summer Course

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was the presentation of Certificates of Completion to all 22 international students.

Representatives of the HLU leadership, together with Prof. Patrick H. Gaughan, Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang, and Ms. Nguyen Hai Yen, presented certificates and congratulated each student on completing the programme.

The certificate presentation was not only a recognition of the students’ successful participation but also a celebration of the journey they had shared over the previous two weeks.

Each certificate represented countless hours of learning, discussions, field trips, cultural experiences, and new friendships created during their time at HLU.

The atmosphere in Room A402 became particularly emotional when a short video capturing highlights from the students’ 14-day journey was screened during the ceremony.

The video brought back memories of the students’ first days in Hanoi, their classroom experiences, visits to legal and cultural institutions, excursions, group activities, and countless moments of laughter and friendship.

During the final exchange session, representatives of the international students took the stage to express their sincere gratitude to the HLU leadership, lecturers, organizers, staff members, and student volunteers.

Their heartfelt words reflected how meaningful the Summer Course had become to them in just two weeks.

The farewell became even more memorable with warm embraces, promises to return to Vietnam, and performances prepared by the students themselves. Music, laughter, and shared memories filled the room, creating a warm and emotional conclusion to the HLU International Summer Course 2026.

For many students, saying goodbye was not easy. Two weeks may seem short, but the intensity of the programme and the experiences shared together had created genuine connections among students, lecturers, organizers, and volunteers.

More Than a Summer Course

The HLU International Summer Course 2026 has now come to an end, but the journey and the connections created through the programme will continue.

Over the course of two weeks, students gained new knowledge about Vietnamese law and society, explored the country's history and culture, encountered its legal and professional institutions, and experienced the beauty of Vietnam.

More importantly, they became part of an international community at Hanoi Law University.

The programme demonstrated HLU’s commitment to internationalization and to creating meaningful opportunities for students from around the world to engage with Vietnamese legal education, culture, and society.

For the 22 international students, the knowledge and experiences gained during their time in Vietnam will hopefully become valuable memories and lasting sources of inspiration as they continue their academic and professional journeys.

The friendships formed during the Summer Course will also serve as a lasting reminder that education can transcend borders and bring people from different cultures together.

As the HLU International Summer Course 2026 comes to a close, Hanoi Law University would like to express its sincere gratitude to all lecturers, experts, partner institutions, staff members, student volunteers, and, most importantly, the 22 international students who made this programme so special.
