On 7 October 2026, as part of the delegation’s visit to Budapest, HLU representatives visited and held a working meeting with Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPCU), one of Hungary’s long-established and reputable higher education institutions.
Building on the university’s educational heritage, which dates back to 1635 when it was founded by Cardinal Péter Pázmány, PPCU was re-established as a Catholic university in 1992. Its Faculty of Law and Political Sciences was established in 1995 and has since become a recognised law education institution in Hungary, with a focus on specialised legal education, research, and professional ethics.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Petra Lea Láncos, Vice-Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences; Dr. Bence Ákos Tamássy, Head of the International Relations Office; and Ms. Valéria Kabak-Guba, Erasmus+ Coordinator.
During the meeting, both sides introduced their strengths in education, research, and international cooperation and discussed potential areas of collaboration in the coming years. Key priorities included student and faculty exchanges, summer school programmes, joint research, co-organising international academic conferences, and promoting exchange opportunities under the Erasmus+ programme.

On 9 October 2026, the HLU delegation visited and held a working meeting with Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), one of Hungary’s oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions. Founded in 1635, ELTE has a history spanning nearly 400 years and is now one of Hungary’s leading centres for education and research. According to the 2026 CWUR rankings, ELTE is among the top 2% of universities worldwide.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Gábor Zemplén, Vice-Rector for International Affairs; Ms. Katalin Igaz-Öhler, Head of the International Strategy Office; and Mr. Ákos Udovecz, Head of the International Office at the Faculty of Law.
During the meeting, representatives of both universities introduced their institutional histories, educational scale, research strengths, and internationalisation strategies. ELTE representatives shared their experience in developing English-taught programmes, attracting international students, and participating in European university cooperation networks.
The two sides discussed a range of opportunities for cooperation in education and research, particularly student and faculty exchanges, short-term academic programmes, joint international conferences, and collaborative research activities.
One notable area of discussion was the potential to promote cooperation through the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) programme, which could enable faculty members and students from both universities to participate in academic exchanges with support from international funding sources.
In addition, the two sides explored the possibility of organising summer school programmes tailored to the needs of HLU students. These programmes could focus on European law, business law, and interdisciplinary legal studies, combining academic learning with opportunities to experience an international educational environment.
ELTE representatives spoke positively about the adaptability and academic performance of Vietnamese students and expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation with Hanoi Law University through practical activities at the university, faculty, and academic staff levels.
The meeting opened up promising prospects for future cooperation, including the potential signing of a cooperation agreement to establish a formal framework for collaboration and implement academic exchange activities in the coming years.

The HLU delegation meets with representatives of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE).
The working visit to Hungary achieved positive results, most notably the signing of an MoU with the University of Debrecen, alongside an agreement to continue discussions towards signing MoUs with Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPCU). These outcomes provide a foundation for practical cooperation in legal education and research.
These achievements reflect Hanoi Law University’s continued efforts to expand its international partnership network, enhance the quality of education and research, and progressively realise its goal of becoming a reputable law education institution in the region and worldwide.
