On 25 September 2026, Hanoi Law University (HLU) welcomed representatives of The American College of Greece (ACG) for a meeting to discuss potential cooperation in education, student exchange, and the development of short-term academic programmes.

Attending the meeting, the ACG delegation was represented by Ms. Eliza Touli, International Admissions Manager at The American College of Greece. Representing Hanoi Law University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Vice Rector of Hanoi Law University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Lan Huong, Head of the Department of International Cooperation.

The American College of Greece is a private, non-profit educational institution based in Athens, Greece, founded in 1875. ACG is recognised as the oldest and largest comprehensive American-style educational institution in Europe and is accredited in the United States. The College currently serves more than 8,000 students, including international students from approximately 95 countries and territories. Its educational system encompasses programmes ranging from secondary to postgraduate education, with Deree being its prominent division for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

During the meeting, Ms. Eliza Touli provided an overview of ACG’s history and development, as well as its diverse range of programmes, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies, student exchange opportunities, and international semester programmes for overseas students. ACG currently offers a wide range of programmes and courses in the social sciences and humanities, international relations, communications, psychology, criminology, and criminal justice. Notably, the College adopts a flexible educational model that allows students to combine a major with a minor.

Both parties engaged in extensive discussions on the potential implementation of semester-long student exchange programmes. Representatives of Hanoi Law University noted that the University currently offers a number of courses taught in English, providing a suitable academic environment for international students to undertake a semester of study at HLU. The two sides also discussed tuition fee waivers for exchange students, subject to a cooperation agreement, as well as the recognition of academic credits upon completion of the exchange programme.

In addition to long-term programmes, Hanoi Law University and ACG expressed particular interest in developing short-term academic programmes lasting one to two weeks. HLU proposed exploring specialised courses in European Law, Comparative Law, Criminal Justice, and related legal fields. The ACG representative expressed her willingness to collaborate in developing programme content tailored to students’ needs and the practical conditions of both institutions.

Ms. Eliza Touli also provided further information on the comprehensive support services available to international students at ACG, including accommodation arrangements, visa application assistance, airport pick-up services, organised sightseeing activities, and access to modern sports facilities. For students who do not meet the required international English language proficiency standards, ACG offers placement tests and corresponding English language support courses.

Regarding international projects, ACG shared that, from 2027, the College expects to expand its opportunities for participation in Erasmus activities. This is expected to create further opportunities for student and staff exchanges and to strengthen sustainable academic cooperation between the two institutions.

The meeting concluded in an open and friendly atmosphere, with both parties agreeing to continue exchanging detailed information on academic programmes, the list of courses taught in English, and potential student exchange models. During the planned visit of Hanoi Law University’s leadership to Athens in late October 2026, the two sides are expected to hold further in-depth discussions on cooperation opportunities, visit ACG’s campus, and explore the possibility of establishing a formal framework for cooperation in the near future.
