| Read the article |On June 19, 2026, Hanoi Law University, in collaboration with Nagoya University (Japan), solemnly organized the Graduation Ceremony for students of the Japanese Law Training and Research Center. The event marked an important milestone, celebrating the growth and achievements of new graduates after their period of study and research in an advanced legal education environment with strong international integration.
The ceremony was attended by H.E. Ito Naoki – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam; Prof. Yokomizo Dai – Dean of the School of Law, Nagoya University; Prof. Murakami Masako – Director of the Asian Legal Exchange Center, Nagoya University; Mr. Kobayashi Yousuke – Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office; representatives from the International Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Justice of Japan (ICD); representatives of Japanese law firms including Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu (NOT), TMI Associates, Nishimura & Asahi, Anderson Mori & Tomotsune (AMT); along with representatives from Japanese enterprises and organizations, partners, lecturers, and students of the Center.

Representing Hanoi Law University, the ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. To Van Hoa – Rector of Hanoi Law University, together with leaders of various units under the University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. To Van Hoa – Rector of Hanoi Law University congratulated the new graduates on successfully completing their studies at the Japanese Law Training and Research Center. The Rector acknowledged the students’ efforts and serious academic attitude, emphasizing that specialized legal knowledge and Japanese language proficiency would serve as an important foundation for their future development in an international professional environment.
After more than 20 years of establishment and development, the Japanese Law Training and Research Center has become a prominent symbol of legal education cooperation between Hanoi Law University and Nagoya University. As of this year’s graduation ceremony, the Center has successfully trained 159 students, including 5 students who completed the program and received their degrees in 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Murakami Masako – Director of the Asian Legal Exchange Center, Nagoya University expressed her appreciation to Hanoi Law University, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, relevant agencies, organizations, and partners for their continuous companionship and support for the Center’s activities over the years.
Prof. Murakami Masako also encouraged the graduates to continue cherishing their connection with the Center and its alumni community, and to maintain the network established throughout their studies. This network not only serves as a foundation for individual career development but also contributes to sustaining and strengthening Vietnam–Japan legal cooperation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. To Van Hoa – Rector of Hanoi Law University awarding degrees to the new graduates
Within the framework of the ceremony, representatives of Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu Law Firm (NOT) awarded scholarships to two third-year students of the Center, supporting their participation in a one-year exchange and study program at Nagoya University, Japan. This meaningful initiative demonstrates the continued support of Japanese professional partners in developing young legal talent while providing students with opportunities for international learning and experience.
The participation and support of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, JICA, the International Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Justice of Japan (ICD), Nagoya University, and Japanese organizations and law firms have made significant contributions to the sustainable development of the Center.
With the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their studies, the new graduates are expected to continue enhancing their professional capabilities, becoming legal experts who can work in international environments and actively contribute to the development of legal cooperation and exchanges between Vietnam and Japan.
The 2026 Graduation Ceremony not only recognized the students’ academic achievements but also reaffirmed the important role of the Japanese Law Training and Research Center in nurturing a new generation of young legal professionals with knowledge, foreign language skills, and a global mindset.
