As part of its working program in the Republic of Kazakhstan, on June 19, 2026, the delegation of Hanoi Law University (HLU) paid a visit and held a working session with the Embassy of Vietnam in Kazakhstan. The meeting was a significant activity contributing to strengthening the connection between the University and Vietnam’s diplomatic mission abroad, while also expanding opportunities for cooperation in education, training, and legal research between Hanoi Law University and partners in Kazakhstan in particular and Central Asia in general.
The delegation of Hanoi Law University was led by Dr. Hoang Xuan Chau – Vice Rector of the University. The delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Civil Law; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of State Administrative Law; Mr. Nguyen Son Tung, MA – Head of the Student Affairs Office; and Ms. Hoang Trang Ly, MA – Officer of the International Cooperation Department.
The Embassy of Vietnam in Astana, the official diplomatic representative agency of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Kazakhstan, concurrently accredited to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Georgia, welcomed the delegation with the participation of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Nguyen Thanh Le and officers and staff members of the Embassy.
At the meeting, the delegation of Hanoi Law University expressed its sincere appreciation for the attention, support, and facilitation provided by the Embassy of Vietnam in Kazakhstan for the University’s international cooperation activities. In the context of the increasingly developing Vietnam–Kazakhstan relations in various fields, particularly economy, education, training, and science, Hanoi Law University hopes to continue receiving support from the Embassy in promoting cooperation with prestigious higher education institutions, research institutes, and academic organizations in Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, Hanoi Law University introduced an overview of the University’s position, mission, and development orientations. As one of Vietnam’s leading institutions in legal education and research, Hanoi Law University is implementing its goal of becoming a national key institution for legal training, a research-oriented higher education institution with a strong reputation in the region. Within this development strategy, international cooperation has been identified as one of the University’s key priorities to improve training quality, promote scientific research, enhance international publications, and expand learning and academic exchange opportunities for lecturers, students, and trainees.

The delegation also discussed with the Embassy the need to expand its strategic partnership network in Kazakhstan, focusing on universities with strengths in law, public administration, economics, international relations, and interdisciplinary fields. Hanoi Law University expressed its wish that the Embassy would continue to serve as a bridge to support the University in approaching, working with, and moving towards establishing or implementing substantive cooperation agreements with reputable educational institutions in Kazakhstan, such as L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Maqsut Narikbayev University.
In addition to training cooperation, Hanoi Law University proposed that the Embassy support connections with experts, scholars, lecturers, and research institutions in Kazakhstan to jointly organize international academic conferences, thematic seminars, and collaborative research groups. Areas of mutual interest may include international trade law, investment law, public administration, digital economy, digital transformation in state governance, comparative law, and legal issues arising in the context of Eurasian regional integration.
The delegation also expressed its desire that, with the support of the Embassy, lecturers, researchers, and students of Hanoi Law University would have more opportunities to access scholarship programs, postgraduate training programs, short-term professional courses, and academic exchange activities in Kazakhstan. This direction would contribute significantly to enhancing professional capacity, expanding international experiences for learners, and developing high-quality legal human resources to support Vietnam’s international integration process.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Hoang Xuan Chau expressed his sincere gratitude to the Embassy of Vietnam in Kazakhstan for welcoming and working with the delegation of Hanoi Law University. The Vice Rector emphasized that the Embassy’s support plays an important role in helping the University expand its international cooperation network in Central Asia, especially in legal education, legal research, and academic exchange.
The working session with the Embassy of Vietnam in Kazakhstan took place in a friendly, open, and effective atmosphere. The outcomes of the meeting provided an important foundation for Hanoi Law University to continue implementing cooperation activities with Kazakh partners in the future, thereby advancing the internationalization of legal education and enhancing the University’s position in the region and globally.
