| Read the article |On the afternoon of July 10, 2026, Hanoi Law University held a working session with representatives from QS Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) to discuss the University's development orientation, share insights on international higher education evaluation and ranking trends, and explore opportunities for future cooperation.
Representing Hanoi Law University (HLU) were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Toan Thang, Head of the Office of Quality Assurance and Testing; along with leaders and specialists from various units: the Office of Quality Assurance and Testing, the Office of Organization and Administration, the Office of Undergraduate Training, the Office of Postgraduate Training, the Office of Science and Technology, the Office of Student Affairs, and the Center for Legal Practice.

Representing QS Quacquarelli Symonds were Mr. E Way Chong, Regional Director, and Ms. Yuen Yee Hor, Client Manager for the Vietnamese market.
During the meeting, HLU leadership provided an overview of the University's establishment and development history, along with its notable achievements in education, scientific research, quality assurance, and international integration. They also shared the University's development orientations for the upcoming period, aiming to continuously improve training quality, modernize university governance, accelerate internationalization, and gradually elevate the University's academic prestige on the global stage.

The QS representatives provided an overview of their organization's global mission and activities in evaluating, ranking, and supporting higher education development. They shared the latest trends in international rankings and highlighted the role of the QS Stars system in helping higher education institutions standardize data, benchmark internationally, and drive continuous quality improvement.

Throughout the discussion, both sides explored strategies for HLU to participate in international rankings that align with its specialized nature. The QS representatives noted that, given its strength as a specialized higher education institution in the legal field, HLU has significant potential to develop and assert its position through subject-specific rankings—most notably the QS World University Rankings by Subject – Law & Legal Studies. They also encouraged HLU to continue implementing the QS Stars evaluation to refine its data and quality management systems.
QS experts further elaborated on key criteria within the QS ranking system, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, the quality of scientific publications, and citation indices from the Scopus database. Additionally, the two parties discussed actionable solutions to enhance data management capacity, expand international cooperation networks, strengthen ties with academic and employer partners, and increase participation in international forums and conferences to boost the University's presence and prestige within regional and global higher education communities.

The working session concluded in an open, frank, and cooperative atmosphere. The discussions will serve as a crucial foundation for Hanoi Law University to continue refining its data systems, elevating educational quality, accelerating international integration, and successfully navigating its roadmap for participating in QS Stars and other international rankings aligned with the University's future development goals.
