On September 13, 2026, in Hanoi, Hanoi Law University (HLU), in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), Asian Law Students’ Association – Vietnam (ALSA Vietnam), and The Moot Club, organized the Final Round and Award Ceremony of the Vietnam International Moot Court Competition (VIMCC) 2026. After competing through multiple rounds alongside 84 teams from Vietnam and abroad, HLU’s Astra team emerged victorious, securing the Championship title of VIMCC 2026.

An overview of the VIMCC 2026 Final Round and Award Ceremony

VIMCC 2026 was organized within the framework of the 2026–2031 Cooperation Agreement between Hanoi Law University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, with the aim of strengthening academic engagement, professional practice, and international exchange opportunities for law students.

The competition attracted 84 teams from law schools and legal education institutions in Vietnam and abroad. Following the written round, the eight strongest teams advanced to the knockout stage. At the Knockout Round held on September 12, 2026, four teams — dUEL from the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; Mooties and Protocol from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law; and Astra from Hanoi Law University — successfully advanced to the Semifinals.

During the Semifinals and Final Round, the teams continued to demonstrate their ability to analyze case files, identify and examine legal issues, develop legal arguments, present their positions, and respond to questions and challenges from the Panel of Judges. With thorough preparation, well-structured arguments, persuasive advocacy, and a strong competitive spirit, Astra delivered an outstanding performance to claim the overall victory and become the Champion of VIMCC 2026.

Astra’s achievement is not only a proud accomplishment for the team but also a remarkable highlight for HLU students on an internationally oriented academic platform, where legal knowledge is directly connected with professional practice and advocacy skills.

At the event, Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Van Quang, Vice Rector of Hanoi Law University, delivered the welcome remarks and expressed his appreciation to the distinguished delegates, experts, lawyers, arbitrators, lecturers, co-organizing institutions, partners, and sponsors for their valuable support of VIMCC 2026. In his remarks, Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Van Quang emphasized the significance of the competition in bridging the gap between “knowing the law” and “practicing law,” enabling students to develop legal reasoning, research skills, advocacy skills, and the ability to defend their positions in a practical professional environment.

Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Van Quang also highlighted three essential qualities for young legal professionals: well-founded argumentation, independent thinking, and a professional and respectful attitude. These are also among the core values that VIMCC seeks to foster in the education and development of legal professionals capable of working in an international environment.

The VIMCC 2026 Final Round and Award Ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished delegates, experts, and representatives from various organizations and institutions in the legal field:

• From the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC): Mr. Vu Anh Duong, Vice President and Secretary General of VIAC.
• From the Department of International Law: Ms. Lai Thi Van Anh, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Law.
• From Hanoi Law University: Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Van Quang, Vice Rector of the University, together with lecturers, experts, and students.
• The event was also attended by members of the Panel of Judges, experts, lawyers, arbitrators, representatives of co-organizing institutions, sponsors, members of the press, and participating teams of VIMCC 2026.

VIMCC 2026 was jointly organized by Hanoi Law University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, VIAC, ALSA Vietnam, and The Moot Club, with professional support from VIAC and VILAF – Hong Duc. Through VIMCC 2026, law schools, legal professionals, and the legal community have gained an additional platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and supporting students in developing professional skills.
